If not now, when? Reclaim your life-time

You’re 65. You left your job yesterday. You finally have the time to take care of your health, start a business, and find the love of your life. You wonder if nightclubs will give you a seniors’ discount.

You survived the second AI bust of 2030 and the third crypto bust of 2037. You did great work for your employer. But you didn’t make any progress towards the things that really mattered to you. You just wished for them. And the wishes without plans never came true. You became a robot. A robot with lungs. The recent decades felt like a sleepwalk. Your most vivid memories were of the foyer. But now, at 65, you finally have the time to focus on what really matters.

So what’s on your list? After your last heart attack, your doctor told you to lose 45 kilograms. You remember how he used his notepad to hide the life expectancy widget on his computer. You’ve dreamed of starting a business for decades. You hope to make enough money to remove your former employer’s microchip from your arm. You also want to start a family. At 65, you finally have the time.

It’s Saturday morning and you’re watching Netflix. You have the rest of your life to sort everything out. You feel that you can afford to spend Saturday morning re-watching tell-a-vision. By 9 PM you are on YouTube. A shirtless YouTuber with tats and dreadlocks piques your interest. He’s presenting a monologue called “They let you out before you die.” By 7:13 AM on Sunday morning, you feel tired and go to sleep. You plan to sort out your life when you wake up.

Two years go by. It’s your 67th birthday and you’re in an ambulance. Another heart attack. You never lost any weight. In fact, you gained a few kilograms because you no longer had to walk to office meetings. You recall what you dreamed about. Your business idea. The vision of the family that you never started. The honeymoon destination that you envisioned. The hike up the volcano. The azure sea. The white sand beach. How cool it would have been to do pistol squats.

Your chest hurts. It hurts more than your previous heart attack. Your mind spins. Your mind spins right off your body. You are now looking down on your body in the ambulance. The greatest pain is the pain of missed opportunity.
